Stray Dogs

stray dogs in taiwanCarol took this photo of stray dogs near “Central Park” in Kaohsiung at night.

Throughout the city, there are lots of stray dogs. A lot of them look beat up and have enlarged balls or teats.

All of the dogs know how to cross the street or stay out traffic altogether. City dogs for sure.

i had a hard time with seeing the strays in Taichung. They were all traffic savvy but seeing packs of them in the city depressed me. It doesn’t seem that many people keep dogs as pets except the small, miniature ones.

Incidentally, there was a ban on eating stray dogs in Taiwan a few years ago.

Well, they seem to not have a pidgeon problem here… maybe that’s because I see them being sold for food on the roadside.

OK, apparently they race the pidgeons… not eat them… but pigs beware.

Heh. Racing Pidgeons. I wonder if they have funny names like our racing horses?
